I could not agree more! Now in the age of social media, these little touches of brand caring can reap huge marketing ROIs.

And you don't need to be a mega luxury brand either. A small restaurant near me in Columbus, OH, Skillet, that specializes in locally sourced ingredients simply monitors it's name across the web. I happened to become mayor of the place on foursquare. To my surprise, the next time I visited, the chef came to my table and welcomed me as mayor. I also noticed whenever I visit now, no matter how long the wait, they always find a table for me within a few minutes and tell me the mayor's table is ready.

Well, needless to say, I blog and tweet about them as much as I can now. I am loyal for life. This cost them nothing, but gains them great social exposure. I can't stop talking about them!

In today's world, people NEED to feel taken care of. The brands that do this will go far. Thanks for the great article!
